Heredity

For our study of heredity, Chapter 9 in the text will be our primary resource. It is a very long chapter, so the sooner you begin reading, the better!

Here is a suggested reading calendar. Classes may or may not fall directly in sync with the reading. Take good notes, learn the bold-faced words, and use the questions at the end of the chapter as a way to assess your understanding. The month of May will be an exciting and busy time, so chip away at your reading and note-taking as you will also be conducting a month-long plant experiment!

Chapter 9 reading calendar:

By the end of the week of 4/23 - 4/27: 9.1 - 9.9
  • 5/3: 9.10 - 9.15
  • 5/7: 9.16 - 9.20
  • 5/9: 9.21 - 9.23

DUE ON MONDAY, 5/7/18: Please complete Genetics Problem Sets #1 & 2

DUE ON WEDNESDAY, 5/9/18: Please complete Review Sheet on Genetics - it's the document at the bottom of this page called Genetics Packet 2018

DUE FRIDAY, 5/11/18: Please complete all four pages of Pedigree Homework.

DUE ON THURSDAY, 5/17/18: TEST on Genetics

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have time to read the entire chapter, focus on learning the vocabulary and study the diagrams. We will be discussing the most important concepts in class. You can think of the reading as a supplement to class learning. It is always useful to have the background knowledge from the reading. You need to be your own personal judge as to how much you want to study the textbook.
